Ridge Gourd (heere kai) cool curry (gojju) - A quick companion for rice or roti
Ingredients required
- Ridge Gourd (heere kai)-1 or 2 (depending on size).
- Green chilies-2 to 3
- Seasame seeds powder (ellu pudi) - 2 tsp
- Ground coconut flesh - half a bowl
- Oil - 1 to 2 tsp
- Butter milk - half a bowl
- Salt to taste
Steps to prepare
- Peel out the skin of ridge gourd (heere kai). only skin is needed, u can save the flesh for another recipe.
- Cut the peeled out skin in to equal parts (almost equal :-P).
- Chop each chili in to 2 to 3 pieces.
- Pour 1 and half tsp of oil( do not put excess oil) in a small kadai n fry the chopped chilies and cut pieces of ridge gourd skin till it turns brownish (a littel more than golden brown).
- Take the fried mixture in to the grinding jar. Add the ground coconut flesh (hasi kobbari turi),seasame seeds powder and salt to taste to the mixture. Pour half a cup of water to this mixture n grind it till it becomes a watery paste.
- Take out the ground mixture in a bigger bowl and add the butter milk (or curd also works well) and mix well.
- Optional: give the prepared mixture a tadka (vaggarane).
- Serve with hot rice(with desi ghee) or roti.
